Mario was one of the most eligible bachelors in the historic town, born into a wealthy family. As the only son, he was somewhat spoiled. Though he was an engineer by profession, he seemed to be concerned solely with his friends and girls for dating at his own leisure. By the age of 36, he had introduced at least six girls to his parents, much to his delight. In some cases, he came home in the early morning after a drinking spree with his mutual friends at bars and elegant restaurants. Being the lone child, his responsible parents were concerned about his foreseeable future.

Wine for all occasions |
One Sunday, after spending the whole time with his friends in a bar, Mario went home at early daybreak the next day. The expectant mother had felt his arrival due to the bumping of the door next to their room. A few minutes later, the father asked his wife, "Is Mario already in his room?" "Yes, just arrived," replied the mother gently. Then silence engulfed them both. They could not go back to peaceful sleep anymore. At that point, the father whispered to his wife, "Why not advise him to settle down with his gorgeous girlfriend since he is already at his appropriate age and with a stable job. And besides, we are not getting any younger anymore." The wife nodded her head.

Drinking with friends |
One pleasant day, the parents noted that Mario
just stayed the whole afternoon at home watching television, basketball, and
movies. So, by early morning the next day, while the dawn was still breaking
and the world was at a standstill, the mother and father tandem advised Mario
heartily to marry one of his longtime girlfriends, Elizabeth, the only daughter
of one of the lifelong friends of their family. "Mario, we think you have
to settle with Elizabeth now. It is now the time, and we are not getting any
younger, and we want to see you have your own family." But Mario just
stared at them as if his thoughts had wandered a mile out of his mind.
A few months later, the parents knew that their dear son and Elizabeth parted ways. Mario found a new love in his life. He felt in love with a 40-year-old woman, the office clerk at an engineering firm where he was working. The woman was divorced from her husband and had a 6-year-old daughter.

Mario and his Best Friend Forever |
As Mario sought his parents' blessings to marry
his new-found love, the parents were dumbfounded and looked in astonishment.
"What? A woman with extra baggage"? The wife cried. The father did
not mutter any words. Their world seemed upside down. The parents knew that
marrying a divorced woman with a child from a previous marriage would have many
complicated issues.
After a while, the father said to his wife,
"What is that extra baggage you have revealed?" The wife replied
cautiously, "Her daughter from her previous marriage is an additional load
for our son, an extra baggage."
No matter what the parents did to their son, the
son incessantly asked for their blessings. And finally, their weddings
proceeded as planned with their presence.
