Aircon Wastewater Twofold the Squash Production

          By Vic Odarve

By accident, the dripping wastewater from an air conditioner produced a twofold squash production. The flowering plant grew robust with no specific need of fertilizers. With little attention to care or cultivation, it bore more fruits as compared to the conventional method of cultivation. Because of its phenomenal fruit bearing production, it always gave delight to our longtime neighbors and distinguished visitors. Unknown to many, it was just a wastewater from the air conditioner that boosted the production to double.

The squash grew strong, robust, and healthy that its stems unusually produced plenty of branches like an enormous web that stretched out in all directions. Since it belongs to a vine family, the branches climbed to a nearby plant overcrowding other ornamental exotic decorative vegetation. The dark green coloring leaves differed significantly from the cultivated squash nearby which were being mostly yellowish in color. It undoubtedly appeared that the dripping wastewater from the air conditioner was rich in key nutrients and adequately supported its growth.

Because of its rapid growth and robust development, there was little attention for extensive cultivation or care as to weeding or controlling grass growth. Its numerous stems and established branches dominated the lush landscape such that it produced plenty of fruits during the harvest season resulting in a doubled production.

The plant was impressive to look at. Notwithstanding neighbors and visitors in our neighboring community who once visited the back side of my room quarter could not believe in what they were witnessing. Squash, the exotic fruit of flowering vines of the genus Cucurbita, grew amazingly right beside in our room window where water droplets from our air conditioner were carefully disposed.

Dear mother nature convincingly demonstrated that wastage from an air conditioner was not a considerable waste at all. It was just enough to water the flowering plant and adequately support the required nutrients. It was just a mere accident that we discovered the secrets of doubling the squash production! From an incredible waste of our air conditioner, a squash production was twofold!

Math Becomes Easy

 By Vic Odarve

“Really math becomes easy when the teacher explains well and I follow it up at home,” exclaimed passionately an engineering student.

Competent teacher, conducting a review of the extensive notes after the class, and practice by reworking the steps, are all needed to understand math. Math professor must discuss math in an eloquent and conversationalist way and demonstrates an ability to challenge the students. Likely students, on their part, must review the explanatory notes after the class to positively enhance memory retention. Then, actual rework or practice on what was carefully discussed and solved efficiently in the classroom must be given with considerable time. And complex math instantly becomes an easy prey!
A Math Professor
Any prominent professor must know very well the intricacies and remarkable beauty of the numbers hidden in complex math; he can explain lucidly the subject matter in a understandable way and invite the students who are concerned of numbers to seek and interact during the classroom discussion. The classroom typically becomes a learning place where students frequently refer to as their second home. This is the place where they can voice out and willingly share their own opinion with others; and naturally learn from their classmates by politely asking. A competent teacher is like an environmental designer; keep classroom atmosphere conducive to sufficiently learning. He properly establishes redlines; build up student’s necessary confidence. A competent professor works on this way!

Conducting a review on the specific topics discusses in the classroom scientifically proves to retain further one’s memory. The study convincingly showed that the first in a two-hour lecture is the most effective period for memory retention. Faced with this dilemma, a comprehensive review after the class is dearly needed to recover essential part of the time where memory retention was least. Referring to the notes for a few minutes after classroom enhance more considerably your memory. Any lapses and misunderstood notes can be easily corrected by recalling your memory. Hence, a review is a must!

Ultimately, students must rework the complex problems and its solution steps. Although simple as it is, this is the most significant part of learning math. The practice enables students to comprehend the whys, how, and when these steps are done. It remains their mind working; challenging ideas at will and keeps them on the state of accurately analyzing and recognizing patterns. Math is like a game of chess; sometimes pondering the board to find the best moves over your fierce opponents; the clearer the picture over the specific situation, the better your possible moves and win the games. Reworking the classroom’s lectures naturally makes understanding perfect!

It is not that math is difficult because it is math and students could not get along with numbers. But with competent teachers, coupled with numerous patience to open your notes after the class and constant practice, learning math becomes easy and enjoyable. Students and math subsequently become the distinct best of friends.

A COUPLE'S QUARREL

             By Vic Odarve

As one of their longtime neighbors, we were always disturbed by their frequent quarrels. An even disagreement over small things would typically result to insulting, mocking, and shouting. The engaged couple said they had been fighting throughout their 30 years of marriage. They stayed together because of their dear children. Right now, all of them were grown-ups and had their own families, the wife finally wanted to voluntarily leave her husband for good. She intentionally wanted to live independently since divorce was not allowed. When asked by the Barangay Captain before signing the papers, the wife said” I love him, but my patience already reached to the point that I had to leave him. I am sorry.” Then the husband said, “it’s just okay I can understand what she had wanted.” The couple decided to sign a mutual agreement to live separately.

Couple Quarrel
Ten years had passed. Their eldest son youngest daughter decided to go on wedded vow. Both were invited. The ceremony was performed in one of the luxurious hotels in the city. Sitting in the first table together with the newlyweds, the couple, now an old man and lady, sat near to each other during the dinner time. Both were quiet. As the dinner started, the old man immediately gave a piece of grilled fish to the lady and said,” Take this, it’s your favorite.” The wife said” This is the problem; you think so highly of yourself and never thought of how I feel. Don’t you know that I hate a grilled fish?” The old man’s temper raised up, but he managed to control it. Keeping silent for a while, he just behaved as if he did not hear anything knowing that by mumbling something would end in a quarrel.

Grilled Fish
After the social affair, both returned eagerly to where they lived. At that night both could not sleep. The old man got a bottle of local wine and got drunk. He phoned his old lady and sincerely wanted to tell her he is sorry for the grilled citrus fish and to inform her that he still loved her. He never stopped calling her. He was deeply depressed.

On the other end, the wife still angry and could not understand how after all these years, he still does not understand her that she hated a grilled fish. But she still loved him. At that point she decided not to answer no matter how the phone rang knowing its him.

Couple's Neighbors
The next day, a neighbor informed her that man died from a heart attack. And that was the time he had tried in vain to contact her. It was then she remembered he had previously a heart problem. The last text she received that night was saying, “My dearest wife, I want you to know I will always be at your side even to the ends of the world. I love you.”

Sometimes we think marriage life is a bed of roses. But it is not! For a couple, both must learn how to love each other.
